I've been blessed...

This week has been busy! I've definitely been "stretched" a little at work...some days are just tough and exhausting. I LOVE my job, but I'll be so happy when I feel like I actually know something and can take care of my patients without asking the other nurses a million questions. My preceptor is an angel though and I'm so blessed to have her to train me! I worked Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week, and had a Neonatal Resuscitation Course today, which was fun and interesting! Wednesday was by far one of my toughest days yet...I felt exhausted and like my brain was in a fog. I had prayed that morning as I walked into work that I would be a light and witness to the other nurses and my patients, but as the day worn on I was just praying that it would end and that I wouldn't make any stupid mistakes. I was just ready to go home!

Well, it was near end of shift and I was checking on my last patient to give her a med and tell her good-bye. As I began to leave the room I asked, "Is there anything you need before I go?" She looked at me and burst into tears. I was a little surprised to say the least! But I ran over to her, put my arms around her, just hugged her, and asked what was wrong. She said that she had two young children that she hadn't seen in two days and she had just finished talking on the phone to them and she missed them a lot. So we talked and I grabbed the roll of toilet paper out of the bathroom for her to blow her nose and I rubbed her back and told her what a sweet mom she was for missing her kids so much. She told me about them and cried some more, and I listened. After awhile she calmed down and I gave her another big hug. By the time I walked out of the room she had a little smile on her face.

My whole day had been hard and exhausting, but that few minutes comforting that mom made it all worth it. That's one of the many things I love about my job. I have chances every day to be a little piece of Jesus to someone. The moms in antepartum are at a very difficult time in life. Some are there for two months or more...I love that I really get to develop a relationship with them. God sure has blessed me with a wonderful job. It's hard to believe that after all of my studies I am really an RN!

On a side note, this weather is gorgeous and makes me ready for spring! And, below are a few more wedding pictures...hope everyone is having a fabulous week!

My sweet, life long friend!

Aww... I almost started to cry looking at these pictures! I can't believe you are MARRIED!!!!!!!! Oh my word!!! My best friend is MARRIED!!!! Well... Mark got himself quite a woman! You bless me so much and are always such a godly influence and encouragement to me. I have loved watching as you seek to serve Mark and be the perfect little wife. I have been so impressed with how you have adjusted to married life. Obviously, you desire the Lord's will in your life and marriage and are seeking Him. Thank you for being such a great example, Jess! I have been priviledged to watch you trust God in every step of your life and have seen the fruit of God's work being performed in you. Keep seeking God every day and allowing Him to lead and direct your steps. I treasure our friendship SO much. I love you!!! :-)

What a sweet story, and what a neat opportunity for you to love and encourage that woman! Isn't it neat how when God uses us to encourage others, it is so often an encouragement to us? I love that. I'm loving this weather, too. Can you believe it was snowing a week ago?? Have a great weekend!

hey jessica,
Ok I have a question for you..I know you are a big runner and I want to run a 5K in June and would love some tips for training. I am not a big runner but am a avid work out person. So I started adding running to my cardio time at the gym and am not sure how much I should expect how soon. I know you should train for more then the 5k but how much more. So as you can tell any help you can give me would be wonderful!! Thanks a ton!!

Thanks SO much for your encouragement! I appreciate it so very much! I'm so excited to reach my goal! You'll get to yours, too. Isn't it amazing how much it depends on your diet even if you're running like a maniac?? (Which, I admire greatly. I am NOT a runner by any means.)

Anyway, keep it up!

That's probably why I was craving those muffins so badly... because I shouldn't have them. However, they are only 2-3 points if you want to use some bonus points on them. Make them without nuts and it cuts off a whole point! :-)

Love you and miss you!!!! However, I guess we'll be seeing each other at least twice this weekend. YEA!!!

Hey girl! Thanks for your comments! I always love getting comments on my site... you know how you always wonder if anyone ever looks at your site? Yeah... anyway, I've been enjoying blogging recently.

So how's life? Sorry I missed your call earlier. I was still at Vonni's and didn't want to wake her by our loud talking... hehe...

Love you! Oh... and I want to see some pictures up of you in your scrubs! You need some nursing pics up!

(oh and your comments on my site...I commented back on my site to those.)

you know... it struck me tonight, as I was about to turn my computer off, and I was looking at the picture of the two of us from the race today... how much money do you think has been spent on our faces? Ok, weird question. But think about it... we've both had braces, we've both been on accutaine, we've both been to a tanning salon at some point or another in our lives... etc, etc... we go to the same salon to get our hair cut... hmmm... a lot of similarities!!! And a lot of money! Anyway... that's my random thought for the night. Goodnight! :-)
